It’s a Celebration!

Light of the Valley is giving thanks to God and thanks to the Lutheran Community who has been so supportive in our first year of operation.  So, we’re having a party.  It’s traditional as preparation for Lent that Christians have prepared for the penitential and fasting season by celebrating with a feast of pancakes, revelry, or other great feast.  In the tradition of the Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) celebrations of the American South, we’re hosting a Cajun Boil of a variety of seafood, sausage, potatoes, corn and other delicacies.  Here’s the details:

Cajun Boil

It’s a Fat Tuesday celebration!  On Fat Tuesday Light of the Valley plans to host its first annual Cajun Boil to hail the coming Lenten season and to provide fellowship and outreach to our community.  We will charge $20 a person for adults and $12 for children.  This delicious concoction of andouille sausage, shrimp, crab, potatoes, corn on the cob and delicious spices.  The meal is served on long tables covered with butcher paper and you’re on your own to crack the crab and peel and eat the shrimp.  It’s a great time and will be accompanied by lots of fun and fellowship, all in the name of Christ and to the glory of God!

Christmas Eve at Light of the Valley

Our tradition (now that we’ve done it twice it’s a tradition – right?) on Christmas Eve service is to celebrate a “Hanging of the Greens” service where we receive gifts from God in Word and sing praises to Him in traditional Christmas Carols.  Eighty four people took part in the service this year and we really had a good time!  The pictures show what a great time was had by all.
